Anke’s story: Systemair feels like home

Life at Systemair

When Anke Ehrly talks about her career at Systemair in Boxberg, Germany, she does not start by talking about job titles or career milestones. She talks about people.

"My colleagues and my varied work," she says, when asked what motivates her to come to work each day.

It is a simple answer, but it says a lot. After more than 16 years with Systemair, Anke still enjoys coming to work because no two days are the same and because she is surrounded by people she genuinely enjoys working with.

Feeling welcome from the start

For some people, it takes months or even years to know they have found the right workplace. For Anke, it happened almost immediately.

"From the very beginning," she says. "It was very family-like and everyone knew each other. It was just a friendly interaction from the start."

That welcoming atmosphere is something she still values today. Reliability, helpfulness, teamwork and friendliness are all qualities she sees in her colleagues every day. And just as importantly, there is room for humour, learning from one another, and taking time to connect.

Growing together

Over the years, Anke has had the opportunity to develop her career while staying within the Systemair family.

After spending her first 1.5 years at headquarters, she moved into export as a sales assistant. Today, she is responsible for export pricing, a journey that reflects the many opportunities for growth available within the company.

Her story shows that a career at Systemair is not about standing still. It is about learning, taking on new challenges, and building your future over time.

The small moments matter

When Anke describes what it's like to work at Systemair, she does not mention a big achievement or a major project. Instead, she talks about a moment many people can relate to: those first few minutes of the morning before the workday properly begins.

"A quick conversation in the morning with colleagues before the computer starts up makes stressful days easier and enriches the workday with a pleasant atmosphere and an open way of interacting with each other."

It’s those everyday moments that create a sense of belonging. The feeling that you are not just working alongside colleagues, but with people who support each other and enjoy spending time together.

A supportive culture

For Anke, one of the things that makes Systemair special is the combination of a people-focused culture and practical support for employees.

She highlights team events, company celebrations, flexible working hours, home office opportunities, and development possibilities. While outside of work, employees can take advantage of a wide range of wellbeing initiatives, including sports activities, health lectures and fitness programmes.

Combined with flexible working arrangements, these benefits help employees balance work, family and personal interests throughout different stages of life.

"You know you work at Systemair when the free fruit in the kitchen is gone after five minutes," she laughs. "But also knowing that I can laugh with my colleagues, some of which have become close friends.”

A place to build a future

If a friend asked Anke whether they should join Systemair, her answer would be clear.

She points to the positive relationships between departments, the supportive atmosphere within teams, and the opportunities for personal and professional development. And after more than 16 years, perhaps her favourite description of life at Systemair is also her most memorable:

"You know you work at Systemair when the free fruit in the kitchen is gone after five minutes," she laughs. "But also knowing that I can laugh with my colleagues, some of which have become close friends.”

It’s that sense of connection that has kept Anke at Systemair for over a decade. Because while careers can start with a job, they often become something more when you find a place you belong.
