The company was founded as LHG kanalfläkt, and production began in Skinnskatteberg. More than 50% of production was exported to Norway.
The first sales subsidiary, LHG Kanavapuhallin, was established in Finland.
The German manufacturer of fan motors Ziehl-Abegg and ebmpapst were suppliers from the start, then became partners through their Swedish subsidiary Ziehl-ebm, today ebmpapst AB, the second largest shareholder in Systemair.

In July 2014, Systemair took over the assets of Airwell, a French manufacturer of air conditioning products for the commercial market. Acquisition of Camair, a supplier of air conditioning and ventilation products for the commercial market in Belgium. In February 2015, our new 16,000 m² Malaysian production facility, comprising modern offices and production and warehouse buildings, was inaugurated. In March 2015, we acquired Lautner Energiespartechnik GmbH in Helmstadt, Germany. The company specialises in manufacturing high-efficiency rotating heat exchangers for air handling units and data centre cooling. In April 2015, Systemair acquired Menerga AS, a market leader in swimming pool ventilation and the distributor of Menerga’s products in Norway.
