Systemair Hellas supplied comprehensive air handling and ventilation solutions for Conrad Athens The Ilisian, supporting indoor air quality, occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and safety across the landmark mixed-use development.
Conrad Athens The Ilisian, Greece
Systemair Hellas delivered a comprehensive ventilation solution for the redevelopment of the former Athens Hilton into a luxury destination encompassing hospitality, private residences, wellness facilities, and dining venues.
A broad portfolio of air handling and ventilation products was carefully selected to serve multiple applications while accommodating the installation constraints associated with the existing landmark structure.
Geniox, Topvex, and SAVE air handling units were deployed throughout the development to support indoor air quality, thermal comfort, humidity control, and energy-efficient operation.
Dedicated solutions for kitchens, air distribution, parking facilities, and smoke extraction helped address the project’s demanding operational and safety requirements.
At the hotel’s inauguration in 1963, Hilton founder Conrad Hilton famously described the Athens Hilton as “the most beautiful Hilton in the world.”
More than six decades later, the landmark building is being transformed into Conrad Athens The Ilisian, a new mixed-use destination combining luxury hospitality, private residences, wellness facilities, dining venues, and supporting infrastructure.
The redevelopment represents a significant new chapter for one of Athens’ most recognisable buildings, preserving its architectural legacy while adapting it to meet contemporary expectations for comfort, efficiency, and premium hospitality.
As part of the renovation, Systemair Hellas was selected to supply air handling and ventilation solutions designed to support indoor air quality, occupant comfort, energy-efficient operation, and safety throughout the complex.

The scale and diversity of Conrad Athens The Ilisian created a complex set of ventilation requirements. The development encompasses major public areas, premium hospitality venues, luxury residences, commercial kitchens, technical spaces, pool areas, parking facilities, and supporting infrastructure, each with distinct operational and environmental demands.
At the same time, integrating modern building services within an existing landmark structure introduced significant spatial and installation constraints. Limited plant areas required compact, carefully coordinated equipment selections capable of achieving the required performance without compromising the architectural vision of the development.
Systemair Hellas addressed these challenges through a broad portfolio of air handling units, heat recovery systems, air distribution products, and specialist ventilation equipment tailored to the requirements of each application.

The building’s primary ventilation system incorporates 110 Geniox air handling units, forming the backbone of air treatment across the development’s principal public areas, halls, and premium venues.
Selected using SystemairCAD and Eurovent certified, the units were designed to support indoor air quality and provide effective temperature and humidity regulation throughout the main hospitality spaces.
For areas where available plant space was particularly restricted, 23 Topvex commercial air handling units were supplied. Their compact construction allowed the units to be incorporated efficiently into constrained technical areas while maintaining the required ventilation and energy-recovery performance.
Within the development’s luxury private residences, six SAVE residential air handling units were selected to provide quiet and energy-efficient mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. These solutions contribute to indoor comfort while supporting the wider energy-efficiency objectives of the project.

The project’s extensive culinary and hospitality facilities required reliable ventilation solutions capable of supporting demanding kitchen extract applications and continuous airflow throughout the complex.
To meet these requirements, Systemair Hellas supplied 95 MUB Multibox fans and 95 prio circular duct fans. Together, these products form a comprehensive network supporting kitchen extract and air distribution across the development.
The equipment was selected to provide dependable performance while responding to the varied operational requirements of the hotel’s dining venues, hospitality areas, and supporting spaces.
Dedicated ventilation solutions were also required for the development’s parking areas and supporting infrastructure.
Systemair Hellas supplied 20 AXC axial fans and five high-performance jet fans to provide effective ventilation and targeted airflow routing within these areas.
Eight specialised DVG roof fans were also supplied for smoke extraction, supporting the project’s emergency ventilation strategy and applicable safety requirements.
Through the coordinated selection of axial, jet, and roof-mounted fans, the infrastructure ventilation system was designed to provide reliable everyday operation alongside essential smoke-control functionality.
By combining air handling, heat recovery, air distribution, kitchen extract, infrastructure ventilation, and smoke-extraction solutions, Systemair Hellas provided an integrated portfolio capable of serving the development’s diverse applications.
