What is SAP.
SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) is the method used by the Government to assess and compare the energy and environmental performance of dwellings and is used to demonstrate a dwellings compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations.
SAP was developed by the BRE (Building Research Establishment) in 1992 and was introduced into Part L of the Building Regs in 2005. It's purpose is to provide accurate and reliable assessments of dwellings energy performances that are needed to underpin energy and environmental policy initiatives such as:-
- Code for Sustainable Homes
- Building Regulations
- Energy Performance Certificates
